Global-ranging enterprises awarded prizes
at the CEE IPO Summit in recognition of successful promotion of
Polish capital market

ING OFE, East Capital, Eton Park, Kernel and Abu Dhabi Investment Authority were awarded special prizes at the official Gala held as part of the CEE IPO Summit conference. All these enterprises have contributed, through their presence and activity in capital markets in Central-and-Eastern Europe (CEE), to the strengthening and the continued development of these markets. The award ceremony was a part of the international CEE IPO Summit meeting that has attracted representatives of the CEE’s global investors and businesses for two days to Warsaw, Poland onMay 25 and 26.

The CEE IPO Summit was focused on promoting Poland in general, and the Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE) in particular, as a dynamically developing capital market – potentially, a source of capital or equity for companies – whilst also offering new investment opportunities. For these two days, Warsaw became a place where several hundreds of foreign guests representing firms from across the world discussed Poland’s and the WSE’s investment potential.

The Gala, attended by Mr. Bronisław Komorowski, the President of the Republic of Poland, was a significant part of the conference. The soiree’s high point was the CEE IPO Summit Special Prizes award ceremony. Awards were presented in a total of five categories.

The Best Domestic Emerging Markets Long Fund was offered to ING OFE, a fund with a very close relationship with the Polish capital market and which has been the market’s strongest performer interms of its assets and number of clients.

The East Capital fund was awarded the title of Best International Emerging Markets Long Fund. East Capital is regarded as a leading independent fund specialising in East-European and Chinese financial markets. The prize was granted for proactive provision of capital to finance the CEE-region countries’ potential in the long run.

Eton Park was granted a prize as the Best International Emerging Markets Alternative Fund. The award was presented to a fund that is particularly recognised in that it takes part in regional transactions based on noticing value where others cannot, or before anyone else. Eton Park proves to be a leading hedging fund internationally, specialising in investment in U.S., European, and Asian businesses. Recently, the organisation has expressed its interest in investing in the CEE region.

Kernel of Ukraine was awarded as the Best Regional IPO on the WSE, in recognition of the best transaction made by a regional company at the WSE. Not only did this debut indicate the potential of WSE as a regional financial centre but also launched high standards for regional transactions and set new developmental directions.

Finally, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority was presented with The ‘Bridge’ Award. Regarded as the world’s second largest investor, the company has recently displayed remarkable interest in the emerging markets. The prize crowns its actions aimed at making the CEE part of the global investment map for good and thus, building a bridge between business activities of the East and global capital.
