PRESS RELEASE

  • GPW-listed companies Polski Bank Komórek Macierzystych (PBKM) and Dino Polska have been short-listed as finalists of the high-profile European Small and Mid-Cap Awards 2018 in the categories: “Star of Innovation” and “Star of 2018”
  • The annual competition is organised by the Federation of European Securities Exchanges (FESE) and European Issuers in partnership with the European Commission

Two companies listed on the GPW Main Market: Polski Bank Komórek Macierzystych and Dino Polska have been short-listed as finalists of the European Small and Mid-Cap Awards 2018 in the categories: “Star of Innovation” and “Star of 2018”. They were selected by an independent panel headed by the European Commission with the participation of European Issuers.

European Small and Mid-Cap Awards established by FESE and European Issuers promote the most dynamic growing companies on the capital markets across Europe.

Polski Bank Komórek Macierzystych spearheads the international FamiCord Group which manages stem cell banks located in Europe and Turkey. Taking into account the number of newly acquired samples, the Group is by far the largest stem cell bank in Europe with around 28% of the market share, including the acquisition of Stemlab in Portugal. The main area of PBKM's activity is the collection, processing and long-term storage of stem cells extracted from umbilical cord blood and other postnatal tissues as commissioned by parents (family banking). In addition, the PBKM Group invests in the development of advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMP) services, which are considered to be one of the most important directions of development in medicine. Since April 2016 PBKM has been listed on the main market of the Warsaw Stock Exchange.

Dino is a leading player in the growing mid-sized supermarket segment with a robust outlook located close to clients’ places of residence and at the same time one of the fastest growing networks on the overall retail grocery market in Poland. As of 30 June 2018 Dino’s network consists of 849 stores (172 more yoy) primarily located in western Poland with an average selling area of roughly 400 square meters. The Dino Group’s business model combines the advantages of mid-sized supermarkets located close to customers’ homes with the ability to expand the store network quickly and with an attractive product range.

European Small and Mid-Cap Awards were opened to companies which had an IPO in 2016-2017 provided that their share price rose after the IPO and the capitalisation at the IPO date was up to EUR 1 billion.

The GPW-listed companies compete for the title of the “Star of Innovation” and the “Star of 2018” with issuers listed on other European exchanges. The winners will be awarded at a gala ceremony in Brussels on 4 December.
