CSR: Corporate Social Responsibility of GPW Group

The business strategy of Warsaw Stock Exchange Group is pursued in a responsible and transparent manner, in co-operation and in dialogue with all major stakeholder groups. The Company carries out its operations taking into account social, ethical and environmental factors. The main motivation for the pursued CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) policy is to improve the quality of the Polish capital market, among others by means of educational programmes, promotion of the highest standards of corporate governance and communication, and support for co-operation and active dialogue with and among market participants.

As confirmation of GPW’s corporate social responsibility, the Company has been included for the second consecutive year in the Respect Index of companies which follow the highest CSR standards.

The key objective of GPW in this area is to create and promote best practice of corporate governance for public companies. Since 2002, the Exchange has promoted the corporate governance rules by continuously developing and disseminating the Code of Best Practice for GPW Listed Companies designed to strengthen the transparency of exchange-listed companies, reinforce the protection of shareholders’ rights and improve the quality of communication between companies and investors.

Environmental protection is part and parcel of GPW’s values as a modern and competitive institution present on the European capital market. Consequently, GPW has defined the key areas of its environmental impact. GPW approved an environmental policy in 2013 and continued initiatives aimed at mitigating its impact on the natural environment and at raising environmental awareness among Company employees in 2014.

The Exchange Supervisory Board has approved the new code of corporate governance: the Best Practice for GPW Listed Companies 2016.

The new code took effect as of 1 January 2016.
