November 2004 saw all the WSE indices change slightly, with the NIF (National Investment Funds) index rising the most.




Among all listed companies 71 showed positive rates of return.



Cash market turnover amounted to 18 444 million zloty, and was 88% higher than in October. On the futures market turnover totalled 9 587 million zloty, 2% lower than in the previous month.



At the closing of the trading session on November 2, 2004, the WIG index reached its new all-time high at 25 781.86 points. The previous record was broken at 25 763.58 points on October 6, 2004. At the closing of the same day a historical record was set also by the WIG-PL index at 25 691.11 points.

On November 3, 2004, shares (series A) of WYDAWNICTWA SZKOLNE I PEDAGOGICZNE S.A. (abbreviated name „WSP” and ticker symbol „WSIP”) made their debut on the Exchange. Wydawnictwa Szkolne i Pedagogiczne are the largest Polish publishing house, specialising in publishing textbooks for primary, grammar and secondary schools. The company offers also auxiliary supplementary literature for pupils and teachers, encyclopaedias, school dictionaries, books on psychology and pedagogy, as well as multimedia.

On November 3, 2004, shares of FAM – TECHNIKA ODLEWNICZA (abbreviated name „FAM” and ticker symbol „FAM”) debuted on the Exchange. From October 12 to November 2, 2004 allotment certificates concerning bearer shares (series B) of FAM – TECHNIKA ODLWENICZA S.A. were traded on the Exchange.

On November 10, 2004, shares of POWSZECHNA KASA OSZCZĘDNOŚCI BANK POLSKI S.A. (abbreviated name „PKOBP”, ticker symbol „PKO”) debuted on the Exchange. 280 811 678 shares of series C were introduced to trading on the Exchange.

The offer of PKO BP was the largest one in the history of the Warsaw Stock Exchange. On the day of the debut, session turnover values, both as far as the single stock turnover and the total session turnover are concerned, set their new records (2.78 billion zloty and 3.27 billion zloty respectively). The introduction of POWSZECHNA KASA OSZCZĘDNOŚCI BANK POLSKI S.A. to trading increased the domestic companies’ market capitalisation by 14%.

On November 17, 2004, 3-year T-bonds with a floating interest rate and maturing on November 5, 2007 (abbreviated name „TZ1107”) debuted on the Exchange.

On November 19, 2004, bonds of series A116 (abbreviated name „BPHOB0905”) and of series A22 (abbreviated name „BPHOB0906”) issued by BANK BPH S.A were traded for the first time.

On the trading session on November 22, 2004, first quotation of shares of TORFARM Company (series A, B, C, D and F) took place. From September 30 to November 19, 2004, allotment certificates concerning TORFARM S.A. ordinary bearer shares series F were traded on the Exchange.

November 22, 2004, was the last trading day for 1-year bearer bonds (series A16) issued by Bank BPH S.A. maturing December 8, 2004 (abbreviated name „BPHOA1204”).

On November 25, 2004, 1-year bearer bonds (series A18) issued by Bank BPH S.A. maturing December 13, 2004 (abbreviated name „BPHOB1204”) were traded for the last time.

On November 26, 2004, shares of PEKAES S.A. - series B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I and J (abbreviated name „PEKAES” and ticker symbol „PEK”), as well as allotment certificates concerning series K (abbreviated name „PEKAES-PDA”, ticker symbol „PEKA”) made their debut on the Exchange.
PEKAES group is one of the largest transport and shipping organisations in Poland, providing international and domestic forwarding services for packaged cargo, by sea and air, as well as logistical solutions. The Group runs also service and commercial operations supplementary to its main business activities.

On November 29, 2004, 1-year bearer bonds (series A17) issued by Bank BPH S.A. maturing December 15, 2004 (abbreviated name „BPHOC1204”) were traded for the last time.

Starting with the trading session of November 29, 2004, shares in LZPS PROTEKTOR changed the trading system from single-price auction system with two auctions to the continuous trading system.

On the trading session on November 30, 2004, investment certificates (series A) issued by SKARBIEC-RYNKU NIERUCHOMOŚCI FUNDUSZ INWESTYCYJNY ZAMKNIETY (abbreviated name “SRNFIZ”) were quoted for the first time. 87 432 certificates were introduced to trading.

On November 30, 2004, first quotation of KOELNER took place. Shares of series A1 (abbreviated name „KOELNER” and ticker symbol „KLR”), as well as allotment certificates concerning ordinary bearer shares series B (abbreviated name „KOELNER-PDA” and ticker symbol „KLRA”) were introduced to trading (23 000 000 shares and 7 000 000 allotment certificates).
The scope of the KOELNER business activity is designing, production and sale, mainly wholesale, of the following: construction mountings (screws, wall anchors, nails, facade connectors, telescope connectors for flat roofs, layered walls connectors, accessories for carton-plaster walls and ceilings), as well as manual and electric tools.

In November 2004, apart from newly-listed companies, shares of the following companies were introduced to trading on the Exchange: Wandalex, Elzab, Invar & Biuro System, Prochem, Szeptel, Comp Rzeszów, Computerland, Kredyt Bank, FON, Eldorado, Nordea Bank Polska, Mostostal Płock and DZ Bank Polska.
