July 2005 saw all main WSE indices rise. The index, which increased the most, was the innovative technologies companies’ index – the TechWIG.
Among all listed companies 155 showed positive rates of return.
Cash market turnover amounted to 14 754 million zloty and was 0.4% higher than in June. On the futures market turnover totalled 19 515 million zloty and was 17% higher than in the previous month.
On July 11, 2005, first quotation of futures on PKO BP stock took place. The futures that expire on September 16, 2005, on December 16, 2005 and on March 17, 2006, were introduced to exchange trading.
On July 11, 2005, the first remote WSE member – Swedish company Fischer Partners Fondkommission AB – started its operational activity on the Exchange.
On July 11, 2005, VARIANT company debuted on the Exchange. 1,300,000 allotment certificates for ordinary bearer shares of the H series were introduced to trading (abbreviated name “VARIANT-PDA” and ticker symbol “VRTA”). The company’s business is manufacturing and selling metal binds, bands and fastenings, car chemistry and cosmetics, as well as car exploitation materials, motor accessories, oils and lubricants.
On July 12, 2005, TRAVELPLANET.PL company debuted on the Exchange. 1,775,370 ordinary bearer shares of the A, B, C series (abbreviated name „TRAVELPL” and ticker symbol “TVL”), as well as 370,370 allotment certificates for shares of the D series (abbreviated name „TRAVELPL-PDA” and ticker symbol “VRTA”) were introduced to trading.
TRAVELPLANET.PL company is an Internet Travel Agent. The company sells products and services of trade partners active in the field of tourism, especially of foreign tourism. TRAVELPLANET.PL is an e-commerce company.
Following July 12, 2005, the Exchange Management Board delisted stocks of DEUTSCHE BANK PBC S.A. company (the stocks were withdrawn from the public trading).
On July 14, 2005, POLICE company, one of the Polish biggest chemical enterprises, debuted on the Exchange. 15,000,000 allotment certificates for shares of the B series were introduced to trading (abbreviated name “POLICE-PDA” and ticker symbol “PCEA”).
“POLICE S.A.” Chemical Plant is a producer of multi-component mineral fertilisers for agriculture and the only domestic manufacturer of titanium dioxide, which is used as a component in many different sectors of industry (paint and lacquer industry, plastic, ceramic and light industry).
On July 20, 2005, 3-year T-bonds with a floating interest and maturing on August 5, 2005 (TZ0805) were traded on the Exchange for the last time.
On July 21, 2005, SPRAY company debuted on the Exchange. 778,166 allotment certificates for shares of the F series (abbreviated name „SPRAY-PDA” and ticker symbol “SPYA”) were introduced to trading.
The company provides voice telephone services over analogous and digital ISDN network, transmission of data and Internet access services, as well as cable TV.
On July 22, 2005, 1-year bearer bonds of the A115 (BPH S.A.) series, maturing on August 9, 2005 (BPHOB0805), were traded on the Exchange for the last time.
From July 25, 2005, FON and SKOTAN companies were moved from the single-price auction system to the continuous trading system.
On July 27, 2005, Internetowy Dom Maklerski company debuted on the Exchange. 1,500,000 allotment certificates for shares of the F series (abbreviated name „IDMSAPL-PDA” and ticker symbol “IDMA”) were introduced to trading on the main market.
The company’s business is running a brokerage house, in particular providing brokerage and corporate services, as well as asset management.
On July 29, 2005, first quotation of EMC Instytut Medyczny company took place. 1,500,000 allotment certificates for ordinary bearer shares of the C series (abbreviated name „EMCINSMED-PDA” and ticker symbol “EMCA”) were introduced to trading on the main market.
The company’s business is providing medical services, such as hospital care, diagnostics, outpatient specialist care and dentistry.
EMC Instytut Medyczny renders services financed by the National Health Fund (NFZ) under the general health insurance scheme, as well as paid solely by the patients.
Following July 29, 2005, the Exchange Management Board delisted the TONSIL S.A. shares (due to the issuer’s default on information requirements).
In July 2005, apart from the newly-listed companies, shares of the following companies were introduced to trading: AGORA, IVAX CORPORATION, GTC, COMP, AMATOR, PAGED, REDAN, BRE, STERPRO, GETIN, ALCHEMIA and ELEKTROMONTAŻ – WARSZAWA.
Changes in the WSE indices
Following the trading session of July 7, 2005, the Exchange performed an extraordinary adjustment of the list of participants of WIG, WIG-PL and WIG-Banking indices. As a result DBPBC company was removed from these indices.
Following the trading session of July, 2005, portfolio of the WIRR index was supplemented with a packet of 429 000 shares of TRAVELPL.
