PRESS RELEASE

  • The Warsaw Stock Exchange (GPW) has awarded capital market leaders at the Stock Exchange Gala 2022
  • The ceremony was organised by GPW and partners: KDPW, BondSpot, and GPW Benchmark
  • Biuro Maklerskie PKO Banku Polskiego was named the Broker of the Year 2022

Awards have been presented to the most active and successful capital market participants at the Stock Exchange Gala 2022. Capital market leaders were awarded by representatives of the Warsaw Stock Exchange: Dr Marek Dietl – President of the GPW Management Board, Izabela Olszewska, Dr Monika Gorgoń and Adam Młodkowski – Members of the GPW Management Board, as well as Mariusz Bieńkowski – President of the Management Board of BondSpot, and Zbigniew Minda – President of the Management Board of GPW Benchmark. They honoured the institutions which achieved the best results last year and made a valuable contribution to the development of the Polish capital market. The Gala was attended by representatives of the state administration, including the Ministry of Finance, the Polish Financial Supervision Authority, the Polish Association of Listed Companies, and other entities of the Polish capital market, as well as Members of the Management Boards and Supervisory Boards of GPW Group companies.

Poland enjoys the most favourable perception in many years, which should now be leveraged,” said Dr Marek Dietl, President of the Management Board of GPW. “The position of the Polish capital market is perceived in terms of hard numbers. We have maintained our leading position in Central and Eastern Europe by stock market capitalisation. Among the Three Seas countries, to which we often compare ourselves, we have a share of over 50 percent in equity trading, and even more in derivatives trading,” said Dr Dietl.

The Representative for the Capital Market Development Strategy at the Ministry of Finance Katarzyna Szwarc was also full of optimism about the future of the Polish capital market despite the turbulences that emerged in 2022. “The good news is that the first signs of spring are visible not only outside the window. The Warsaw stock indices are slowly turning green, and not only the Warsaw indices. Optimism seems to be returning to the market. There is a growing interest in investing and saving, including retirement savings. This is reflected in the slow but steady growth of interest in employee equity plans,” stressed Ms Szwarc.

Awards were presented to 17 entities in 20 categories at the Stock Exchange Gala 2022.
