Investor Activity on GPW in August 2025

GPW Main Market equity turnover totalled PLN 35.8 billion in August 2025, up 41.8% year on year. Average daily GPW equity turnover increased to PLN 1.79 billion, up 48.6% year on year. The broad market index WIG closed August at 104,775.45 points and gained 31.6% year to date.

Equity Market

August 2025 saw continued strong investor activity on the Warsaw Stock Exchange’s equity market. Total GPW Main Market equity turnover was PLN 35.8 billion, up 41.8% year on year. EOB equity turnover increased to PLN 35.7 billion in August 2025 i.e. by 41.5% year on year. Average daily EOB equity turnover was PLN 1.79 billion, up 48.6% year on year. The WIG index closed 29 August at 104,775.45 points and gained 31.6% year to date.

NewConnect total equity turnover reached PLN 184.0 million in August 2025, up 62.6% year on year. NewConnect EOB equity turnover value increased to PLN 183.4 million i.e. by 63.3% year on year.

GlobalConnect equity turnover stood at PLN 13.1 million in August 2025 vs. PLN 3.9 million in August 2024.

Derivatives Market

Total derivatives turnover volume was 0.7 million instruments in August 2025, down 20.2% year on year. Index futures turnover dropped 20.8% year on year to 448,500 futures. Currency futures turnover decreased by 20.5% year on year to 134,100 futures. Single-stock futures turnover was 82,700 futures, down 17.4% year on year.

Structured Product and ETF Market

ETF and ETC turnover value increased to PLN 254.7 million in August 2025, up 51.3% year on year. Structured product turnover value dropped to PLN 206.2 million in August 2025, down 14.9% year on year.

Debt Market

The value of non-Treasury bond issues listed on Catalyst was PLN 146.5 billion at the end of August 2025 vs. PLN 118.2 billion at the end of August 2024. Catalyst EOB bond turnover value decreased to PLN 556.3 million, down 2.1% year on year.

Total Treasury BondSpot Poland (TBSP) bond turnover value was PLN 131.0 billion in August 2025, up 12.6% compared to PLN 116.3 billion reported in August 2024.

The capitalisation of domestic companies listed on the GPW Main Market amounted to PLN 929.3 billion (EUR 217.7 billion) at the end of August 2025. The total capitalisation of domestic and foreign companies listed on the GPW Main Market reached PLN 2,176.0 billion (EUR 509.8 billion).

New Listings

Two ETFs were newly listed on the GPW Main Market in August. The Beta ETF Dywidenda Plus based on the index of dividend-paying companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange was introduced to trading on 18 August. The Future of Defence UCITS ETF managed by HANetf ICAV was newly listed on 27 August. The Future of Defence UCITS ETF is the first thematic ETF listed on GPW and provides exposure to the modern defence and cybersecurity technology sector. These were the 14th ETF and the 15th ETF listed on GPW, respectively, which strengthened the development of this market segment in 2025.

Shares of global brands from the US and Germany, including Berkshire Hathaway, The Boeing Company, The Procter & Gamble Company, Palantir Technologies, Robinhood Markets, Take-Two Interactive Software, Uber Technologies, and Rheinmetall, were newly listed on GlobalConnect in August. All new stocks will be listed in Polish zlotys.

TGE

On the commodity market, the total volume of transactions in electricity stood at 8.8 TWh in August, down 1.2% year on year. The volume of spot transactions was 4.0 TWh (up 2.6%) and the volume of forward transactions was 4.8 TWh (down 4.2%).

Turnover in property rights in certificates of origin (other than “white certificates”) reached 1.0 TWh in August 2025, up 11.0% year on year. Turnover in property rights in energy efficiency certificates (“white certificates”) increased by 12.1% year on year, reaching 4.7 toe in August 2025.

Turnover in Guarantees of Origin for electricity generated from renewable energy sources stood at 3.1 TWh in August 2025, up 1.0% year on year.

The volume of forward transactions in natural gas on TGE increased to 14.9 TWh in August 2025, up 130.6% year on year. The volume of spot transactions was 1.1 TWh, down 8.8% year on year.
