Investor Activity on GPW in January 2026
The beginning of the year 2026 saw record-strong market activity. Turnover in shares and ETFs reached an all-time high in January. Main Market equity turnover totalled PLN 52.9 billion, up 99.2% year on year. Average daily equity turnover increased to PLN 2.56 billion, up 103.7% year on year. ETF and ETC turnover reached PLN 718.0 million in January, up 306.7% year on year.

Equity Market
The start of the year brought new records on the equity market. Total GPW Main Market equity turnover was record-high at PLN 52.9 billion, up 99.2% year on year. EOB equity turnover increased by 94.0% year on year to PLN 51.2 billion. Average daily EOB equity turnover was PLN 2.56 billion, up 103.7% year on year.
NewConnect total equity turnover reached PLN 191.8 million in January 2026, up 84.1% year on year. NewConnect EOB equity turnover value increased by 85.2% year on year to PLN 191.7 million.
GlobalConnect equity turnover stood at PLN 53.1 million in January 2026 vs. PLN 7.1 million in January 2025, i.e. up 644.1% year on year.
Structured Product and ETF Market
January saw new records on the ETF and ETC market. Total ETF and ETC turnover value reached PLN 718.0 million, up 306.7% year on year. Structured product turnover value also at increased to PLN 541.6 million in January 2026, up 84.0% year on year.
Derivatives Market
Total derivatives turnover volume was 789,900 instruments in January 2026, up 1.3% year on year. Index futures turnover increased by 4.0% year on year to 466,100 futures. Single-stock futures turnover increased by 78.5% year on year to 164,000 futures. Currency futures turnover, however, decreased by 36.3% year on year to 141,200 futures.
Debt Market
The value of non-Treasury bond issues listed on Catalyst increased by 19.6% year on year to PLN 156.8 billion in January 2026. Total annual Catalyst bond turnover was PLN 942.6 million, up 53.6% year on year.
Total Treasury BondSpot Poland bond turnover value stood at PLN 131.4 billion, up 12.5%.
Capitalisation of GPW Listed Companies
The capitalisation of 356 domestic companies listed on the GPW Main Market amounted to PLN 1,112.2 billion (EUR 264.0 billion) at the end of January 2026. The total capitalisation of 399 domestic and foreign companies reached PLN 2,577.7 billion (EUR 607.1 billion).
New Exchange Member
UniCredit became an Exchange Member in January and was authorised to trade in securities on its own account. UniCredit is the 37th Exchange Member. UniCredit is one of the largest financial institutions in Europe with broad presence on the international markets including as a direct member of Borsa Italiana and a remote member of Eurex, Börse Stuttgart, and ICE. On the Warsaw Stock Exchange, UniCredit will conduct brokerage activities by trading in securities on its own account.
Record WIG index performance
January saw a strong bull market on the Warsaw Stock Exchange combined with new records of main index performance. WIG, mWIG40, and sWIG80 set new all-time highs this year, confirming strong equity market performance. WIG hit an all-time high of 125,561.69 points on 28 January 2026. mWIG40 hit an all-time high of 8,978.00 points on 30 January 2026. sWIG80 hit an all-time high of 31,841.45 points two days earlier, 28 January.
Towarowa Giełda Energii
The total volume of transactions in gas on TGE increased to 22.1 TWh, up 113.1% year on year. The volume of spot transactions in gas increased to a record-high 7.4 TWh, up 57.2% year on year. The volume of forward transactions increased to 14.7 TWh, up 160.0% year on year.
The total volume of transactions in electricity stood at 8.6 TWh in January, up 1.3% year on year. The volume of spot transactions in electricity was up 1.9% year on year to 4.6 TWh and the volume of forward transactions was up 0.6% year on year to 4.0 TWh.
Spot turnover in property rights in certificates of origin other than property rights in energy efficiency certificates (“white certificates”) reached 1.2 TWh, down 33.9% year on year. Turnover in property rights in energy efficiency certificates (“white certificates”) increased by 158.0% year on year to 20.6 ktoe.
Turnover in Guarantees of Origin for electricity generated from renewable energy sources stood at 5.3 TWh in January 2026, up 1.5% year on year.
