Investor Activity on GPW in April 2026

April saw sustained high investor activity on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Main Market equity turnover totalled PLN 52.1 billion in April 2026, up 17.1% year on year. Average daily equity turnover increased by 15.3% year on year to PLN 2.48 billion. WIG closed the month at 128,508.77 points, gaining 30.2% year on year.

Equity Market

April 2026 saw continued strong investor activity on the equity market. Total GPW Main Market equity turnover reached PLN 52.1 billion, up 17.1% year on year. EOB equity turnover increased by 15.3% year on year to PLN 49.7 billion. Average daily EOB equity turnover amounted to PLN 2.48 billion, up 15.3% year on year.

NewConnect total equity turnover increased by 50.1% year on year and reached PLN 179.9 million in April 2026. NewConnect EOB equity turnover value rose by 55.2% year on year to PLN 178.8 million.

GlobalConnect equity turnover stood at PLN 16.8 million in April 2026 compared with PLN 20.4 million in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Structured Product and ETF Market

Investor interest was mixed across instrument classes in April. Total ETF and ETC turnover value increased by 56.5% year on year to PLN 572.9 million, confirming strong interest in passive investment products. At the same time, structured product turnover declined by 5.7% year on year to PLN 292.8 million.

Derivatives Market

Total derivatives turnover volume amounted to 0.7 million instruments in April 2026, down 29.7% year on year. Index futures turnover decreased by 30.2% year on year to 469.0 thousand futures.

Currency futures turnover fell by 45.4% year on year to 123.9 thousand futures, while single‑stock futures turnover declined slightly by 1.7% year on year to 136.1 thousand futures.

Debt Market

The value of non‑Treasury bond issues listed on Catalyst reached PLN 162.0 billion at the end of April 2026, compared with PLN 136.0 billion a year earlier. Catalyst EOB bond turnover increased by 17.0% year on year to PLN 884.7 million.

Total Treasury BondSpot Poland bond turnover value stood at PLN 191.8 billion, up 65.5% year on year.

New Listings

April was a jubilee month for the Warsaw Stock Exchange, marking its 35th anniversary, and brought debuts across multiple GPW markets. In total, eleven issues were carried out, including three debuts on the GPW Main Market, two debuts on NewConnect, four ETF and ETN issues, and two bond issues on the Catalyst market.

In April 2026, the GPW Main Market welcomed three companies. Syn2bio, a biotechnology company spun off from Synektik and developing a radiopharmaceutical for cardiac diagnostics, was the first debut of the month. This was followed by Creotech Quantum, an innovative company operating in the field of quantum technologies. The month also saw Niewiadów Polska Grupa Militarna transfer its listing from NewConnect to the GPW regulated market, strengthening the presence of the defence sector on the Main Market.

The GPW Main Market also expanded with four new ETF and ETN instruments. ETNVCOIN50, an ETN issued by Virtune AB and based on the Coinbase 50 Europe Index, debuted, offering passive and physically backed exposure to the largest cryptocurrencies. Two BETA ETF products linked to the mWIG40TR index were also introduced – a short ETF and a leveraged ETF with approximately 200% exposure, designed for advanced short‑term investment strategies. Another debut was PZU ETF MSCI World, the second ETF in PZU TFI’s offering, providing broad, currency‑hedged exposure to developed market equities.

On the NewConnect market, Kombinat Konopny debuted after raising PLN 3.05 million through a public offering. The market also welcomed Wydawnictwo Do Rzeczy, which completed a PLN 4.16 million public offering to finance the development of its publishing and digital activities.

In April 2026, two bond issues debuted on the Catalyst market. Corporate bonds issued by Nowa Deweloper with a value of PLN 10.7 million were introduced to trading, followed by municipal bonds of the City of Lębork worth PLN 20 million, confirming the growing role of the capital market in local government financing.

Capitalisation of GPW Listed Companies

The capitalisation of 361 domestic companies listed on the GPW Main Market amounted to PLN 1.15 trillion (EUR 269.0 billion) at the end of April 2026. The total capitalisation of 402 domestic and foreign companies reached PLN 2.51 trillion (EUR 588.7 billion).

Polish Power Exchange

The total volume of electricity transactions on the spot and forward markets amounted to 9.0 TWh in April 2026, down 26.2% year on year. Spot electricity turnover volume increased by 15.5% year on year to 4.5 TWh, while forward market volume declined by 45.6% year on year to 4.5 TWh.

The total volume of gas transactions decreased by 7.6% year on year to 18.1 TWh. Spot gas turnover volume rose sharply by 81.8% year on year to 4.1 TWh, while forward gas turnover volume declined by 19.2% year on year to 14.0 TWh.

Spot turnover in property rights in certificates of origin other than energy efficiency certificates (“white certificates”) amounted to 1.1 TWh, down 33.8% year on year. Turnover in energy efficiency certificates (“white certificates”) increased by 34.6% year on year to 9.1 ktoe.

Turnover in Guarantees of Origin for electricity generated from renewable energy sources reached 5.4 TWh in April 2026, up 22.4% year on year.
