Dr. Wiesław Rozłucki, co-founder and the first President of the Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE), has been honored with the Jan Wejchert Special Prize awarded by the Polish Business Roundtable (PRB). The distinction was presented during the ceremonial gala of the 15th edition of the PRB Awards, held on 25 May 2026 in Warsaw.

The Jan Wejchert Special Prize is granted in recognition of outstanding contributions to economic and social development. The award presented to Dr. Wiesław Rozłucki acknowledges his pivotal role in laying the foundations of the Polish capital market and in establishing the Warsaw Stock Exchange—an institution that has supported the growth of companies and the broader economy for more than three decades.

– I always wanted to run my own business, but never succeeded. At the beginning of the economic transition, I decided to set up my own brokerage firm and, in order to gain the necessary expertise, I joined the programme to rebuild the Warsaw Stock Exchange. By a twist of fate, I quickly became the leader of that project and subsequently served as President of the Exchange for 15 years. I led the Warsaw Stock Exchange from its birth to its adolescence. Those were remarkable times, and everyone who built this market with me can attest to that – said Dr. Wiesław Rozłucki, the first President of the Warsaw Stock Exchange.

Dr. Wiesław Rozłucki served as President of the WSE from its inception in 1991 for five consecutive terms, shaping the development of the Warsaw market and strengthening its position in the Central and Eastern European region. His work contributed to establishing a solid and stable foundation for the functioning of the capital market in Poland.

During this year’s gala, the winners in the remaining PRB Award categories were also announced. In the “Vision and Innovation” category, the prize was awarded to Sebastian Kondracki, creator of Bielik AI. The “Success” award went to Mati Staniszewski and Piotr Dąbkowski, founders of ElevenLabs. The “Social Impact” category was awarded to Halszka Witkowska from the “Life Is Worth Talking About” Foundation.

The Polish Business Roundtable Awards are among the most prestigious distinctions in the Polish business community. They have been presented since 2012 to individuals whose vision, courage, and determination have a meaningful impact on the development of the modern economy and social life.
