Third Edition of Summer on the Stock Exchange Launches
Sunshine, beaches and... returns. The third edition of Summer on the Stock Exchange (Wakacje na Giełdzie), an investment competition organised by the Warsaw Stock Exchange (GPW) and Bankier.pl, has officially commenced. Over the course of 49 summer days, participants can step into the role of investors by managing a virtual portfolio worth PLN 20,000 and competing for the highest rate of return. The competition combines the excitement of investing with practical financial education, enabling participants to gain hands-on experience in the capital market without committing their own funds. A prize pool worth more than PLN 45,000 awaits the top performing participants.
This year’s edition commenced on 13 July and will run until Monday, 31 August. During this period, participants will build investment portfolios, make investment decisions and seek to maximise returns. Each participant receives virtual starting capital of PLN 20,000 and may invest in shares of companies included in the WIG20, mWIG40 and sWIG80 indices, as well as in ETFs, ETNs and ETCs listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The competition provides an opportunity to learn about the mechanisms of the capital market without risking personal funds. Trading takes place on the GPWTr@der platform, which reflects actual market conditions and provides real-time quotations for listed instruments.
“Every investor takes a first step at some point. Summer on the Stock Exchange offers an opportunity to take that step in a safe environment, without financial risk, while still gaining valuable practical experience. We want to demonstrate that the capital market can be explored gradually, through personal decision-making and observation of the outcomes. This is often the most effective way to develop an interest in investing and to encourage informed participation in the capital market,” said Robert Stankiewicz, Director of Communications and Marketing at the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
Summer on the Stock Exchange is not solely a competition but also a comprehensive educational initiative. Participants gain access to educational resources, market analyses, webinars and expert commentary prepared by capital market professionals.
“For many years, we have demonstrated that finance and investing can be communicated in an accessible and engaging manner. Summer on the Stock Exchange is fully aligned with this mission, combining the excitement of competition with a substantial dose of practical knowledge. The summer holiday period is an excellent opportunity both for newcomers to take their first steps in the stock market and for more experienced participants to test new investment strategies, all without the stress and risk of losing personal savings. Together with GPW and our partners, we have succeeded in creating a platform that genuinely enhances the financial literacy and investment competence of Poles,” added Tomasz Goss-Strzelecki, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Bankier.pl.
Registration for the competition is free of charge and available online. Further information and the registration form are available on the Summer on the Stock Exchange website. The winners of this year’s competition will be announced no later than 4 September 2026, while the official award ceremony will take place during the closing gala held on the Trading Floor of the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
Attractive prizes await the competition’s top performers. The winner of the overall ranking will receive PLN 20,000 and the use of a Hyundai Santa Fe for a two-week period. The runner-up will receive PLN 10,000 and use of a Hyundai Ioniq 9 for one week, while the third-placed participant will be awarded PLN 5,000 and use of a Hyundai Tucson for one week. A new feature this year, providing an additional opportunity to win, is the ETF Ranking, organised in cooperation with PZU Inwestycje. The winner of this ranking will receive PLN 10,000, while participants finishing in second and third place will be awarded Garmin fēnix® 7 Pro smartwatches. In addition to the final prizes, the organisers have prepared numerous supplementary awards to be granted throughout the competition.
