Registration for the School Online Stock Market Game (SIGG) is open from 21 September to 30 October 2026. The programme combines financial education with hands-on investing experience and elements of gamification. Participants learn how the stock exchange operates, gain insight into capital market mechanisms and financial instruments, and then apply this knowledge in practice. The main investment competition will run from 16 November 2026 to 12 March 2027.

For 25 years, the School Online Stock Market Game has encouraged young people to explore the world of finance and capital markets in an informed and engaging way. The Warsaw Stock Exchange (GPW) and the GPW Foundation once again invite teachers and students from secondary schools, as well as pupils from Grades 7 and 8 of primary schools, to take part in this anniversary edition of the programme.

SIGG is designed to introduce students to the principles of the capital market and the stock exchange, as well as the basics of investing and long-term saving. It offers a unique opportunity to put newly acquired knowledge into practice. The programme also complements the curriculum delivered as part of the Business and Management subject. To date, more than 400,000 students from across Poland have participated in SIGG, making it one of the largest economic education initiatives for young people in Poland.

Participation in SIGG

SIGG is open to teams of two to four students from secondary schools and older primary school classes across Poland, supervised by a teacher. Participants will gain knowledge of basic economics and capital market operations through multimedia materials, videos, and e-learning courses available on the SIGG educational platform. This year’s edition will also feature educational webinars.

A new feature of the programme is the opportunity for homeschooled students to participate. In this case as well, students must work in teams under the supervision of a designated teacher-mentor.

Teachers will once again have the chance to explore the SIGG platform and test their own investment skills. A separate competition has been prepared for teachers, allowing them to invest individually during Stages I and II of SIGG, with special prizes awarded to the winners.

Game Rules

Each team receives a virtual investment account and a predefined pool of funds to invest. Participants aim to achieve the highest possible rate of return by making informed investment decisions. Before trading begins, teams learn about the operation of capital markets and the financial instruments listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.

They then analyse market conditions, select companies and instruments, and execute transactions based on their own investment strategies.

The competition consists of two complementary components: an investment stage and an educational stage.

In the investment stage, participants allocate virtual funds to shares and ETFs, while those seeking an additional challenge may also trade futures contracts.

The educational stage focuses on independent learning and competition with other participants through knowledge challenges covering economics and capital market topics.

The SIGG application, through which the competition is conducted, closely reflects real-life stock exchange operations, allowing students to experience what it feels like to trade on an actual exchange. Participation in the programme also provides valuable lessons in risk management, an essential element of investing in listed financial instruments.

A special new feature introduced for the anniversary edition is the “Flying Bonus”, a distinction awarded to the team that ranks first in the leaderboard on a designated day. Winning the Flying Bonus guarantees direct qualification for the Grand Final, securing a place among the top teams in Poland.

Prizes

Participants in the 25th anniversary edition will compete for a record prize pool worth PLN 200,000.

Prizes will be awarded for achievements in both the educational and investment components of the competition. The best classes achieving top results on the educational platform will receive funding for a trip to the headquarters of the Warsaw Stock Exchange in Warsaw.

Members of the winning team will each receive a MacBook laptop worth approximately PLN 6,000, and the team will additionally be awarded a one-time scholarship of PLN 6,000.

Cash prizes will also be awarded to top-ranking teams and teachers.

The final stage of SIGG will take place in a special format. As many as 50 top teams from across Poland will qualify to compete live at GPW headquarters, making it the largest final in the programme’s history.
