The record was achieved at a particularly significant moment, as 2026 marks the 35th anniversary year of the Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE).

Since its launch in 1994 at a base level of 1,000 points, through historic lows, a spectacular bull market, the global financial crisis, the pandemic and the subsequent recovery years, the WIG20 has witnessed the most important developments in the Polish capital market. Today, the benchmark index of the largest companies listed on the WSE broke through the 4,000-point barrier, reaching a historic milestone for the Warsaw market.

The landmark trading session also delivered strong results for the Warsaw Stock Exchange Index (WIG). The broad-market benchmark once again set a new record, reaching 152,152.63 points and gaining 0.71%. Record highs across the WSE's key indices underscore the strength of the Polish capital market and provide a fitting highlight to the Exchange's anniversary year.

Trading turnover during the session exceeded PLN 2.6 billion.

Year-to-date performance of the main WSE indices:

  • WIG: +29.78%
  • WIG20: +26.32%
  • mWIG40: +28.78%
  • sWIG80: +6.17%
