On 22 October, the GPW Foundation and the Warsaw Stock Exchange hold the fifth edition of Financial Education Days, a nationwide event which provides an accessible introduction to the world of investing, personal finance, and economic education. Participation in the event is free of charge, both in person and online.

Financial Education Days is an initiative aimed at raising the financial awareness of Poles, promoting responsible investing, and supporting economic education among various social groups, from school and university students, through teachers, to retail investors. Participants get over 10 hours of practical knowledge and 34 educational sessions, from lectures and panel discussions to workshops and meetings with experts.

The programme covers three main thematic areas:

  • Investing on the stock market – for beginners and active investors
  • Financial education for children and young people – for teachers and parents
  • Personal finance and retirement – for anyone who wants to better manage their household budget

The event will open with an online lesson for schools as part of the EduAkcja programme, featuring a lecture by Dr Wiesław Rozłucki, the first President of GPW, entitled “The stock exchange as the heart of the economy: Why do businesses and citizens need the capital market?”

The official inauguration on the Trading Floor, attended by representatives of key capital market institutions, will be followed by an expert panel discussion entitled “You can afford to invest. Start where you are, with what you have!” The discussion will present the latest research results on the attitudes of retail investors. The panel will be moderated by Dr Katarzyna Sekścińska, Professor at the University of Warsaw.

Speakers will include experts from the Warsaw Stock Exchange, PKO Bank Polski, BOŚ Brokerage House, BETA ETF, PFR Portal PPK, TFI PZU, Credit Agricole, as well as representatives of academia and public institutions.

Participants can visit the partners’ fair in the main lobby of the Centrum Giełdowe building.

The event is taking place as a part of the global World Investor Week (WIW), a campaign organised under the auspices of the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), which aims to promote investor education and protection.
