Investor Activity on GPW in September 2026

September was another strong month on the Warsaw Stock Exchange Main Market. Total share trading turnover reached PLN 61.5 billion, up 60.1% year-on-year. Order book turnover amounted to PLN 59.4 billion, an increase of 57.5% compared with September 2025. The average daily order book trading value reached PLN 2.7 billion, also up 57.5% year-on-year. Between January and September 2026, the broad-market WIG index gained 34.2%.

Equity Market

Trading activity on the equity market remained strong in September. Total share trading turnover on the WSE Main Market reached PLN 61.5 billion, representing an increase of 60.1% year-on-year. Order book turnover rose by 57.5% YoY to PLN 59.4 billion. The average daily order book trading value reached PLN 2.7 billion, up 57.5% compared with September 2025.

At the end of September, the WIG Index stood at 157,384.98 points, representing an increase of 48.0% year-on-year.

Investor activity on NewConnect weakened during the month. Total share trading turnover declined by 35.4% YoY to PLN 178.7 million, while order book turnover decreased by 35.8% to PLN 173.3 million.

On the GlobalConnect market, share trading turnover amounted to PLN 24.4 million, compared with PLN 27.6 million in September 2025.

Derivatives Market

Total derivatives trading volume reached 1.5 million contracts in September, representing a decline of 10.7% year-on-year.

Index futures volume increased by 23.4% YoY to 814.0 thousand contracts. Currency futures volume declined by 61.4% to 328.7 thousand contracts. Single-stock futures volume rose by 127.2% year-on-year to 337.2 thousand contracts.

Structured Product and ETF/ETN/ETC Market

Investor interest in exchange-traded products remained strong in September. Total turnover in ETFs, ETNs and ETCs increased by 99.9% year-on-year to PLN 531.8 million.

Since the beginning of 2026, turnover in ETFs, ETNs and ETCs has reached PLN 5.1 billion, representing an increase of 132% year-on-year.

Turnover in structured products amounted to PLN 286.3 million in September, up 14.9% compared with the same period a year earlier.

Debt Market

The value of non-Treasury bond issues listed on the Catalyst market reached PLN 172.5 billion at the end of September. Bond trading turnover in the Catalyst order book increased by 111.8% year-on-year to PLN 934.9 million.

On the Treasury BondSpot Poland market, bond turnover amounted to PLN 350.8 billion, representing an increase of 162.0% compared with September 2025.

Capitalisation of GPW Listed Companies

The market capitalisation of the 383 domestic companies listed on the WSE Main Market reached PLN 1.459 trillion at the end of September.The total market capitalisation of all 402 domestic and foreign companies listed on GPW amounted to PLN 3.047 trillion.

New Listings

September brought two new ETNs issued by Swedish provider Virtune to the ETF, ETC and ETN segment of the WSE Main Market. On 3 September, trading commenced in an ETN providing exposure to the cryptocurrency Chainlink. The instrument became the seventh Virtune ETN listed on GPW. On 17 September, a new ETN based on the cryptocurrency Hyperliquid (HYPE) debuted, expanding Virtune's Warsaw-listed offering to eight instruments. Both products are fully backed by the underlying assets and provide investors with regulated exposure to digital assets through a regulated market.

The Catalyst market welcomed bonds issued by Matexi Polska Holding & Finance, part of the international real estate development group Matexi. Bonds with a total value of PLN 105 million were introduced to trading, with proceeds intended to support the company’s further growth. The debut marked the 14th bond introduction to Catalyst in 2026.

Polish Power Exchange

In September 2026, total electricity trading volume on the spot and forward markets of the Polish Power Exchange reached 15.6 TWh, representing an increase of 49.4% year-on-year. Electricity trading volume on the spot market increased by 21.4% YoY to 4.6 TWh, while volume on the forward market rose by 65.4% to 11.0 TWh.

Total natural gas trading volume amounted to 8.2 TWh, down 34.6% year-on-year. Spot market gas trading volume increased by 74.8% to 2.7 TWh, while forward market volume declined by 50.2% to 5.5 TWh.

Trading volume in property rights arising from certificates of origin, excluding energy efficiency certificates, amounted to 1.3 TWh, representing a decline of 33.3% year-on-year.

At the same time, trading volume in energy efficiency certificates increased by 73.0% YoY to 26.8 ktoe. Trading in Guarantees of Origin for electricity generated from renewable energy sources decreased by 44.3% year-on-year to 3.0 TWh.
